How do I choose the right therapist? It can take courage to talk to someone about your most personal thoughts and experiences, so it’s important to choose a therapist you feel good about, someone who understands you, who is caring and empathetic, and has a personality you can relate to. I suggest booking an introductory session so you can get a sense of how we might work together. You can reach me by phone or email, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have before you commit to meeting me.
-
What kind of therapy do you offer?I offer individual, person-centred therapy face-to-face and online. You can find out more about the person-centred approach in the 'How I work' section of my website.
-
Do you specialise in particular issues?I have worked with clients facing a wide range of issues, such as: abortion, abuse, addiction, affairs and betrayals, anxiety, depression, disability, discrimination, family issues, financial worries, health issues, infertility, intrusive thoughts, issues from childhood, loneliness, loss, low self-esteem, menopause, relationship problems, self-harm, separation and divorce, sex-related issues, suicidal thoughts, trauma and work stress.
-
What can I expect from therapy?Therapy is about sharing your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, supportive and confidential setting. In a therapy session with me, you are invited to talk about anything that’s troubling or worrying you. This can help you to feel less alone and might help you to make sense of what is happening in your life or support you to make positive changes. The focus of the sessions is entirely up to you, but whatever you choose to talk about, I’ll listen and support you to decide how you want to go forward.
-
What are your fees?Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are charged at £60.
-
What are your qualifications?I am a qualified psychotherapist accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I hold a Clinical Diploma and an MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Applications from the Metanoia Institute in London.
-
Do you subscribe to a code of ethics?I subscribe to the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework. This involves regular supervision of my work and ongoing professional development.
-
What happens in the first session? The first therapy session gives us an opportunity to meet each other and decide whether we would like to work together. You might like to tell me something about what has brought you to therapy and your hopes for the sessions. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have.
-
How long can I expect to be in therapy? The length of therapy usually depends on the issues that you are facing and the depth at which you would like to work on them. Some clients find six sessions are enough for them, while others prefer a longer-term relationship. Therapy is a fluid and collaborative process and can be adjusted to meet your needs as we progress.
-
How do you protect my privacy?Everything you share with me during your therapy sessions is confidential. When we meet, I can clarify the limits to therapeutic confidentiality which may apply in rare circumstances.
-
Do you have a data protection policy?I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, and I adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). My full data protection policy can be accessed below.
